Ella had a quiet birthday this year. She just could not decide what she wanted to do. She really wanted to have another Harry Potter birthday party based on book #2, but convinced herself it wouldn't be as much fun as her Harry Potter party last year (despite my enthusiasm and Pinterest ideas) and didn't want to ruin the great memories.
Then we thought it would be so fun to invite a few friends to dinner and the new Harry Potter movie (costumes optional) - Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them due out in November - and give everyone a bag full of Honeydukes candy to eat with their popcorn, but the movie is PG-13 and I thought that would be weird to invite 11-year-olds to a PG-13 movie (especially since I'm known by the other moms to be a bit strict about what my kids watch).
Finally, Ella decided she just wanted to have a family birthday, and that was just fine by me! So after school and Girls On The Run Wednesday, we went to dinner at one of Ella's favorite restaurants, Indian Garden, for some yummy Indian Food. Good choice in my opinion!
We walked next door to Red Berry Frozen Yogurt for a sweet treat after dinner then came home to open birthday gifts. This girl got some very big-ticket items!
For her birthday breakfast, Ella requested crepes with strawberries and whipped cream...
The kids love getting GG and GPa Pomeroy's birthday cards and money every year, but reading what they wrote in their fancy handwriting is a bit of a challenge. Ryan stepped in to help interpret...
Counting those eleven one-dollar bills...
Nine, ten, eleven... WooHooo!...
Ella got the Harry Potter DVD box set...
Opening that new candy-apple red Hoverboard...
Boy is it heavy!...
Hudson's thinking about all the time he's going to get to ride the Hoverboard while everyone's at school...
This new Legos mansion should keep Ella busy for a few hours! She's been wanting it for a very long time! You can see that the others are just as excited about it, too. Ella's showing them the elevator picture...
I think we have something to keep these three busy this weekend while watching General Conference!...
A few things about Ella:
- Green is her favorite color
- Her new Hoverboard is her favorite toy
- Strawberries are her favorite fruit and she loves to eat sliced frozen strawberries as a snack when she gets home from school each day.
- She doesn't have a favorite TV show, but I think she still likes Wild Kratts
- Cheeseburgers are her favorite thing to eat for lunch
- She prefers comfy clothes!
- Harry Potter Trivia is her favorite game
- Elephants are her favorite animal
- She says she doesn't really have a favorite song, but I've noticed when we're playing Pandora on the TV, she likes Owl City and American Authors songs.
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is her favorite book
- Paige Johnson from school and Kambree Skoubye from church are two of her favorite friends
- Honey Nut Cheerios is her favorite everyday breakfast choice
- She loves riding her bike, and now, riding her Hoverboard outside
- Apple juice is her favorite drink
- Christmas is her favorite holiday
- Darly (her pink hippo) and a book are her favorite things to take to bed at night
- Ella wants to be a veterinarian, artist, viola player, "and much more" when she grows up
I'm not sure I can say enough wonderful things about Ella and do her justice. She's so smart, and loves to think out-of-the-box. Science is her favorite subject, although I would say she is also great at math and reading (obviously). She taught herself sign language and is now teaching her classmates, and she is dying to learn Spanish and Chinese. She keeps checking out language books from the library to help.
Ella is very talented in art, music (piano and viola), and swimming, but I would venture to guess she'd be good at anything she puts her mind to since she is hard working and dedicated. She is super kind-hearted, hard working, independent, goal oriented, self motivating, organized (not so much in her room, though), and creative.
While she's usually patient and kind, she can also be a little overly dramatic and sharp with her words when it comes to her sisters and brother. It's tough being the oldest. =-)
Needless to say, we love this girl a whole bunch! Happy birthday to my first 11-year-old!
