our backyard: camping and the creek

Friday night Ryan took the girls camping... in the backyard. We have the perfect spot, (which is also a perfect spot for teeing off, too), fireflies galore, and a unobstructed view of the stars. After a pizza dinner, the kiddos and Ryan headed off to their tent, watched a movie on the iPad while munching popcorn, chased fireflies, gazed at the stars, told scary stories, and then finally fell asleep. They had so much fun.
We had to upgrade our two-man tent for a six-man tent a few years ago. So, Ryan and the girls had plenty of room to sleep!
No need to go camping somewhere else when our backyard is a perfect camp site. Next spring, before everything grows too tall, we should go camping in the forested area past the grass. Although, I much prefer having a tick-free campout. We also need to establish a fire pit area so we can roast dogs and s'mores next time!
Today the girls and I went "exploring" in our little creek in our backyard. The girls love the creek and usually come back to the house with a bucket full of water skeeters, frogs, dragonflies, or anything else they can find and catch. This time I followed them up the creek to see what all the hype was about. Holy cow, it's so awesome back there, and beautiful. It's perfect for the kiddos to play, get a little wet, and get in touch with nature.

I'm not sure where Kendall picked up some of her dance moves, but this one is hilarious. Must have been from our dance parties at the cabin.
Miss Ella is Mother Nature herself. The girl amazes me!
 Isn't it beautiful?!
