Tonight's gift was a compass, which is to remind Brooklyn that we never know which direction life will take us. If we follow the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ, we will be able to return to our Father in Heaven again. By choosing to be baptized, Brooklyn is taking the first step necessary to return to our Father in Heaven.
These are the other gifts we have planned for her for the next seven days and their meaning:
Blanket, because the Holy Ghost is like a warm blanket and will comfort and guide Brooklyn as she makes hard decisions in her life.
"Three Bears" (Teddy Grahams, gummy bears, and berry flavored chapstick), to remind Brooklyn that at baptism, she promises our Heavenly Father that she will 1. Bear witness of Him at all times and in all things and in all places, 2. Bear testimony of Him, 3. Bear one another's burdens.
Journal, because we should keep a record of the good and bad things that happens in our lives as a way document our journey here on Earth and as a way to express our emotions. It's also important for family history work so that her children's children can read all about her one day.
CTR towel is a reminder that on her baptism day, Brooklyn's mistakes will all be washed clean. She will be able to start over again. The CTR on the towel is a reminder for her to always CHOOSE THE RIGHT!
Scripture pen/marker to remind Brooklyn that as she reads the scriptures daily to mark those verses that have special meaning to her and to write in the margins thoughts and feelings that come to her as she reads. One way the Holy Ghost will inspire her and give her direction throughout her life is while she is reading the scriptures.
Children's song book because music can be a powerful influence in our lives for better or for worse. Listening to good music is so important to keeping our thoughts clean and pure and inviting the Spirit to dwell with us. The Spirit can not be with us and keep us safe if we are listening to bad music. We can also learn so much about our Savior through the Primary songs we sing each Sunday.
On the last night, Brooklyn will receive her set of scriptures from Grandma Sugar. We can learn so much from the scriptures. Anything and everything she needs to know in life can be found in the scriptures. If she sincerely prays to know, she can gain a testimony of the scriptures.
I hope that by doing this countdown, Brooklyn can learn the importance of her baptismal covenant, as well as the blessings that will come to her from her Heavenly Father throughout her life if she continues to live by those covenants she makes at baptism.

The "Three Bears"...
I love these CTR towels Sugar makes on her sewing machine...
With the scriptures, Sugar gave Brooklyn this cute hot pink scripture bag and wooden treasure box...
