School Field Trips

Lucky me... this year I was chosen to be a chaperone for all three of my girls' class field trips. The first outing was with Brooklyn and the whole third grade to Pennsbury Manor. While our family has been there before, this time the employees were dressed in period clothing and sheering sheep, spinning yarn, working in the wood and iron shopd, and letting us use quills and ink pots to write letters. It was so interesting learning all about William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, and even more so learning all about daily life at that time in history.

Next up was a fun day on Ellis Island and Liberty Island with Ella. This year, the fifth grade has been learning all about immigration so it was so fun to go to Ellis Island and read all about these amazing immigrants, why they came to America, what they did when they got here, and what few prized possessions they brought with them. It's amazing to me the sacrifices they went through to be part of our country.

Following Ellis Island, we took the ferry over to Liberty Island to to eat lunch and tour the Statue of Liberty.

And then it was on to Adventure Aquarium with Kendall and the first grade for more fun and exploration. Again, I was lucky enough to have been assigned four of the sweetest first graders ever. They were so fun to be with all day...
