Mom and Jim come for a visit

My mom and Jim came to visit us this past week and we had a great time while the kids were out of school for a few days. We stopped at the Philadelphia Temple on our way home from the airport and nearly got locked in the parking garage below. Apparently, when the temple is closed for cleaning, it's CLOSED. A few peanut M&Ms and dinner at our favorite Indian restuarant finally got my anxiety back to normal levels...

Indian food is always followed by frozen yogurt at Red Berry...

Friday morning we went on Hudson's preschool field trip to Styer Orchard where we picked apples and pumpkins...

Friday night we celebrated Ella's 12th birthday with a trip to Escape Room in Princeton. Wow was it fun, and frustrating, and clever. We didn't actually escape the room, but dang we were so close. In addition to having Sugar and Jim with us, Ella also invited two of her buddies from school, Paige and Addison...

After soccer games Saturday morning, we drove to Bradley Beach for the rest of the day. The weather was perfect, although the kids couldn't go out very far in the ocean - the rip tides and waves were enormous due to the recent flurry of hurricanes.

On Monday, after getting everyone off to school, my mom and I went walking in Tyler State Park. It's so beautiful there and the weather was pretty nice. It's amazing to me that every time my mom comes in September she brings the hot weather with her.

Tuesday was kind of our shopping day. We went to JoAnn to find fabric for Ella's Halloween costume (she wants to be Athena, Goddess of War and Wisdom) and ended up buying the store's supply of Heidi Swapp Lightbox accessories. It was all 40% off so my mom (and I, for Ella's birthday gift) went crazy. Then my mom spent the afternoon baking pies. I probably should have watched.

Wednesday my mom and I drove into Philadelphia to visit the brand new Revolutionary War Museum. It was so interesting reading all about the revolutionaries in American history. The museum's claim to fame though is George Washington's original Revolutionary War tent. It was pretty awesome.

Then back to Arizona my mom and Jim went on Thursday. I hope they're planning on coming back again soon!
