Once we dumped our bags off at our hotel, we walked a few blocks to grab lunch at a place called Freshii and picniced at a nearby park. Then we walked to the Barbie Museum, which had every Barbie known to mankind. I mean the kind that were NOT mass produced. The ones with clothes made by real fashion designers, characters from movies, etc. If you're a Barbie lover (which Kendall kind of is) then this is the place for you! You can imagine how much fun Ryan and Hudson had here!
I don't remember having a Barbie like her growing up!...
New York City scene...
Wizard of Oz characters...
Kendall DID NOT want Ryan to block Barbie's dog on the backdrop...
Three of the best Barbie has to offer, packaged and ready to be sent to a Barbie-loving home...
The best part of our trip, in my opinion (and I think the rest of the family would agree), was our beautiful walk up Mount Royal in the middle of downtown Montreal where we got the most amazing views of the city. There was a small lake near the top of Mount Royal where we stopped to row boats, climb on the small waterfall, and eat ice cream. There was also a paved path around the lake for the kids to rollerblade. We could have spent hours there, but it was starting to get dark and we definitely wanted to see the view at the top before it got too dark to see anything but lights.
Getting suited up to hit the water...
Captain Ella and her side-kick Kendall ready for take off...
Ryan, Brooklyn and Hudson got a lot farther than we did...
Captain Ella got tired pretty quick. It didn't help that the wind was blowing pretty hard and in the opposite direction we were trying to go...
Kendall on top of the world...

We ate dinner at a place called Reuben's and tried two of Montreal's specialty foods... smoked-meat sandwich (very salty, I thought) and poutine, which is french fries covered in cheese curds and gravy - it's so good!! After dinner we hunted down the location to one of Montreal's biggest summer events - the Jazz Festival. We didn't stay long since the kids were wiped out and everything they were singing was in French.
Day two in Montreal was spent in Old Town and Old Port, which were adorable. We stopped at the Notre Dame Basilica for a short tour and then walked to the Place Jacques Cartier square, where we got Thai takeout and ate in the park. (Have I mentioned how hard it is to find a place around here to eat that can seat a party of six?) The square was adorable and lively with all sorts of cafes, shops, and cart vendors.
Old Port was, of course, right on the water. We went paddle boating and then saw the amazingly awesome Cirque du Soleil show called Alegria in their huge tents. The kids loved it! After the show, we walked through China Town and ate dinner at a really good Vietnamese restaurant.
Notre Dame Bascillica - not to be confused with the one in France...

Boating on the water...
That looks like the London Eye (in a wannabe kind of way) but we're still in Montreal...
Heading inot the Alegria tents right on the water in Old Town. This is where Cirque du Soleil started...
Loved the show and loved hanging out in Montreal...
