18 Months

It's hard to believe that Kendall is already 18 months old. She is still the most adorable little girl ever - and boy does she know it from all the attention she gets everywhere we go - but she is definitely showing signs of independence and rebellion. In short, she is starting to get a little CRAZY!

The girl wants to do everything her big sisters are doing and, well, you can imagine that doesn't work out so well all the time. When I don't let her have the things she wants (like a second pack of fruit snacks), or let her do something she wants (like take gymnastics class with her sisters), she will throw the most hilarious tantrums I've ever seen. She will carefully (so she doesn't hurt herself) lay herself down on the floor - face up - and start crying. Then, she'll roll herself on to her tummy and start banging her forehead on the floor - even when it's tile. You can imagine the bruise that's usually on her forehead. It's really quite funny.

While Kendall can throw some serious tantrums, she is also the most lovable, snuggliest, little sweetheart ever. She LOVES to give hugs and kisses, and at night she'll lay her head on my shoulder and just snuggle with me for the longest time before I put her in her crib. For some reason, when she gives Ryan kisses, she puts both hands on his cheeks and gives him a big kiss on the lips. It's the cutest thing!

Her vocabulary is extensive and growing. Whatever you say - she repeats! Of course, it isn't always clear what she's saying, but we can usually figure it out after a few minutes of her banging her head on the floor because it's taking us too long to understand what she wants. Her favorite response to everything is "no," and she calls everyone either "mama" or "Ella." She has to sing the alphabet song while we're washing her hands, and has started singing along to some of our the musical books.

The girl loves to eat - mostly junk food, of course - but, like Brooklyn, she can eat all day long. I'd say her favorite foods are mac & cheese, blueberries, grapes, pizza, and whatever junk/snack foods/candy/etc she can find.

It seems she has a goal to learn how to jump. Why jumping? Not sure, but when she actually lets me put her down on her own two feet, that's usually what she'll start doing (although her feet never hit the floor).

We've been taking a music class together for the past six months and up until yesterday, she usually just sits on my lap, sucks her thumb and watches the silly teacher. Yesterday, she actually tried to mimic the teacher's actions. Ya, progress.

So, at her 18 month appointment this is how she measured up:
Height - 31 3/4 inches (40%)
Weight - 21 lbs. 14 oz. (36%)
Head - 18 1/2 inches (65%) - I'm sure it's all those brains =-)

It's crazy how smitten we all are with Kendall. I don't know what it is, but we just can't get enough of her!

It's sad to say I haven't really taken any pictures of my kids since Christmas. Partly because my camera isn't working and partly because I'm just lazy. These were taken with my iPhone, so they aren't that great.
