We spent five fun-filled days over Spring Break relaxing and playing in the Chesapeake Bay area at this amazing hotel that had an hourly schedule of fun activities for the kids. Just to name a few: nature walks around the property, Bingo games, a magic show with Wes Iseli, a hawk demonstration, Easter Egg decorating and hunt, indoor bounce houses, cookie decorating, yoga and pilates classes, token dives in the pool, jump rope contests, 'dive in' movie nights in the pool house, etc. Not to mention the hotel's tennis courts, goofy golf course, sand volleyball court, two heated pools, outdoor fire pit for s'more making at night, playground, and other fun stuff. We had a blast and can't wait to go back again.
On our drive down to Chesapeake Bay, we stopped at Annapolis to check out their adorable town and visit the Naval Academy. We stopped at Chick and Ruth's (orange sign in the background) for a yummy lunch. The place was tiny, but the food was delish...
We took a guided walking tour of the US Naval Academy, visiting Memorial Hall, the chapel, dorms, and other important landmarks on the base...
Sleeping six to one room can get crowded, especially when your brother flops and turns all night long. Not that Kendall doesn't love having her brother's feet in her face all night (and his head hanging off the other side of the bed. At least he was wearing footies...
Kendall was thinking about jumping in this yacht that was docked at our hotel and taking it for a spin on the water...
The view around our hotel was beautiful...
Brooklyn was selected to participate in Wes Iseli's magic show, which was truly incredible...
Every great magician has a few pets up his sleeve, and the kids got to get up close and meet them...
We had a few warm and sunny days while we were there, which is exactly why we decided to head south for Spring Break, but this storm that blew in while we were there looks nasty, but really cool...
This cute tiny owl was part of the hawk demonstration...
And this big guy was, too...
Ella and the other kids got to meet these pets, too...
The kids wanted to spend 90% of their time in the indoor pool...
Easter morning we hunted for Easter Eggs in our hotel room using the ones the kids' dyed back at home, and then headed outside on the hotel lawn for the hotel-sponsored Egg hunt...
Counting their collection to make sure we found them all...
The Easter Bunny, and Sugar, sent a few goodies, too. Sugar made the kids these Harry Potter pillow cases and found the coolest pencil wands...
Hudson got these Skylander transformer things...
And Sugar embroidered the kids names on these cute toiletry bags...
Hunting for eggs outside on the lawn...
After the egg hunt on Sunday, we took a little excursion to Assateague Island National Seashore to check out the wild horses, which weren't that exciting. BUT, what was exciting is the Easter Sunday brunch we had at a place called DiFebo's in Berlin, Maryland on our way to Assateague. The food was AMAZING and the atmosphere was awesome. We loved it. Much more than the horses. The whole town was cute and we stopped by again on our way home so we could try out the ice cream shop in town...
I think the kids enjoyed the beach more than the wild horses, which were actually more like wild ponies...
Chesapeake Bay did not disappoint and next time we go, I'm going to spend more time sitting in these benches under the tree staring out at the water...
