Kendall Hits Double Digits

Kendall reached "double digit" status this month when she turned TEN! Although she'd been talking about and anxiously anticipating her birthday for over a month leading up to the big day, it was a low-key birthday (thanks again COVID!). We had fun and celebrated the best we could... we hung out at our local library picking up new books and movies, tried a new ice cream shop in Newtown called Nina's Waffles, went to Robert Ridge Park to play on the playground, fly airplanes and throw a football, picked up Outback Steakhouse curbside for dinner, and watched movies all night on Saturday. For Kendall's actual birthday on Sunday, per her request, I made crepes with berries, chocolate and whipped cream for breakfast, pizza and salad for lunch, and chicken potatoe bowls for dinner. For dessert, Ella and Brooklyn made her a cheesecake. We made up for the lack of birthday parties with friends with food instead!

And, anyone who knows Kendall knows she absolutely loves carbs! Her favorite foods are pizza, pasta salad, bread of any kind, mac and cheese, chicken fingers, and Costco taquitos. She'll throw a fit about tasting new foods, swearing she hates them already - and then discover she loves them after one or two bites (as was the case with taquitos!) If I could just get her to eat more veggies and proteins!

Kendall has such a big heart and is so thoughtful when it comes to others (a little less with her siblings). She is conscience of others and their feelings and always thinking about what she can do to get them involved or make their lives better. Because of that, she makes friends easily. Her "besties" are Victoria, Chloe, Mia, and Lexi - a melting pot of races, nationalities, and lifestyles. I won't mention Kendall's "other side" that is less sweet and nice... but it's definitely there! Or maybe it's because of her dramatic flare that she gets fired up so easily... especially when it comes to Brooklyn.

That "dramatic flare" will serve Kendall well on stage some day I'm sure of it. She has an amazing abillity to memorize songs, and words to TV shows and movies... even if she's only heard, seen, or read them once. When she auditioned for the school play last year she was given the choice to memorize one out of ten or so dialogues. Kendall memorized hers so quickly and easily that she ended up memorizing all of the others as well. She came home from the audition and knew exactly which kids missed a word or two during their dialogue.

Kendall absolutely LOVES animals!! She wants to be on an animal rescue team when she gets older, and own one of every single kind of animal. She is also an amazing entrepreneur, always looking for some way to earn money (aside from doing additional chores). Last summer she started a dog walking/house sitting business and passed out flyers to a few well-known neighbors (although not a single customer). This summer, she started making RainbowLoom bracelets and chokers with her best friend Victoria and selling them on our front lawn. She had such great success selling to all our neighbors during their daily walks (thanks COVID!), and raised over $40 to donate to a local animal shelter called Four the Paws. Her favorite animal is still unicorns, although she'd give anything for a puppy!

This girl has so much potential in school, drama, singing, gymnastics, animal loving, or anything else she puts her mind to. I can't wait to see where that potential takes her in the years ahead!
