Our time spent at our cabin in Arizona this month looked a little different than past summers due to Covid-19. When Ryan and I made our plans to head to AZ, PA was just coming out of the worst of it and AZ looked like it was still in a good place showing little sign of the virus. That all changed about five days before we were scheduled to leave when the pandemic hit hard and AZ jumped to the top of the list of worst states.
Despite the bad news coming from AZ, we took a chance and headed out there anyway with the hopes of Ryan and I getting to CA to find a house (or at least some neighborhoods we loved). We spent a few very long days in San Diego driving around and learning more about the area, but unfortunately, we didn't have any luck finding the right house. We stayed at the Lodge at Torrey Pines and I think Ryan had a hard time being there and not golfing.
I'm happy to say we made it to AZ/CA and back to PA again without any problems (we're a week into our manditory two-week self-isolation period and no signs of illness, yay!), and are so glad we went. We all had fun in Mesa and at the cabin, despite the fact that we opted out of the golf and tennis clinic, couldn't visit any stores or restaurants, or see any of our summer-time friends. We swam, played baseball games, watched movies, assembled puzzles, baked, hiked, fished, ziplined, went boating and cliff jumping at the lake, caught crawdads, sewed, went horseback riding, read books, attended virtual Girls Camp, ate lots of yummy food, etc. It was great spending so much time with the Felsteads, Woods, Sugar and Jim.
