Soccer... kinda

Ella started soccer a few weeks ago. She definitely looks the part in her royal blue team shirt, black shorts and knee socks, hot pink and black cleats and hot pink and white soccer ball.

Unfortunately, she's not the most athletically gifted child on her team. Instead of getting in the middle of the action to get the ball, she stands on the perimeter and cheers on her teammates. Not only is she yelling, "get the ball, get the ball!!," while she is doing NOTHING to help her team score, but instead of running, she's skipping, hopping and galloping around the field. She's also so busy saying, "hi, my name is Ella, what's yours?" to everyone on the field that she has no idea where the ball is half the time. The whole thing is hilarious! I can't wait to see what happens at our next game!

All the practice in our backyard didn't help when it came time to actually play a game.
Ella likes to get a "running start" to kick the ball.
All least she made contact with the ball in this one. =-)
One of Ella's favorite fans (who is usually asleep during game time on Saturday mornings).
Taking a break with coach dad and assistant coach Kendall.
Dressed and ready to play. Ryan took Ella to get all of her soccer gear... new cleats, new ball, new shin guards. Of course everything she picked out was hot pink. Thanks goodness we have two other girls in this family who can use all of this stuff when Ella's done playing soccer... which will probably be at the end of this session. =-) I'm not sure she's loving it.

The first few game were awful. The weather was FREEZING!!! Icy cold and windy. Brooklyn, Kendall and I had to leave the last game because it was so cold.

  1. We would LOVE to come see her play! What a riot. It sounds like Ella is more "coach" material. Look out Ryan she is going to be taking over your job really soon! :) SA
