England: Day 4

Today was the day we headed to London and finally got to see all the many things we've been telling the kids about for weeks now. Not that we haven't been telling them about the other places we visited, but the excitement, I think, has been on getting to London to see what it's all about. AND, it just so happened to be Brooklyn's 11th birthday!

Thank goodness we packed light because getting in and out of our car and hotels every day would have been a disaster had we not packed just one bag each. So, it was no problem to jump back in the "large" mini "SUV" we rented and drive the short distance back to Heathrow Aiport to return our rental and jump on the train to Paddington Station in London and to our hotel just outside the train station.

Our hotel, London Paddington, was awesome, beautiful, big, and clean! Everything you want after a few days of traveling. We had to split up - three and three - because we are learning nothing in England is made for a family of six! Ryan took Hudson and Kendall, lucky him =-), and I took Ella and Brooklyn! We both had HUGE, gorgeous rooms so everyone was happy!

Once we got settled into our rooms, we headed out on the town and right to Hamley's Toy Store for a bit of birthday shopping! We spent hours there playing and sampling all five floors of toys. The best floor, in my opinion, was the Harry Potter floor, of course!

Hagrid made out of Legos!...

Ella and Brooklyn trying out Hamley's newest nail art kits...

Of course Kendall found the giant unicorns right away!...

After many house playing in Hamley's, we took the Tube to the London Eye. While waiting in line, the kids got out their new toys...

The London Eye...

From the London Eye, we crossed the Thames River to see Big Ben (covered from top to bottom in scaffolding), the Houses of Parliament, and Westminster Abbey...

Of course, the kids' favorite part of the area was playing in the park with Hudson's new boomerang thing he got at Hamley's... (you can see Big Ben in saffolding in the background)

We stopped for Brooklyn's birthday dinner at a delicious little Italian place near the National Gallery...

Happy 11th birthday, Brooklyn!...

And... since we were so close to the National Gallery... we quickly stopped in to see some of the most famous pieces...

It's been a busy day but these guys were troopers!...
