Another Soccer Season Done

Ella and Brooklyn finished another season of soccer on Saturday. They are both getting better, but they have LOTS of room to improve, too. It's fun watching them and the other kids on their teams. They are all at such different skill levels.

Brooklyn was probably the smallest player on her team again this season, and she liked to "follow" the ball and other players around the field rather than actually get involved in the game. However, amazingly enough (and I still can't figure out how it even happened), she scored her first goal yesterday with just three minutes left in the game. You can't even imagine her joy - and utter shock - when it happened. It was so cute! She had a very patient coach, who really tried to make sure everyone scored at least one goal. It took her a long time to get Brooklyn there, and I think she was just as shocked as the rest of us when it actually happened!

Ella's involvement in the game varies from week to week, first half to second half. One game she's playing like a true soccer player, the next she looks like Brooklyn following the ball around. I do think she has the potential to be good, it's getting her to just do it. She, too, had a great coach and assistant coach this season and the coach actually scheduled weekly practices... which has never happened before. I'd like to say the practices were helpful, but not much. Plus, it seemed to rain every Monday night during practice for the past month, so practices were cancelled.

Half time/snack time is still the girls' favorite part about playing soccer - which is no surprise there! Any time food is involved you'll usually find all three girls there. They were more than excited to get their medals again this season, and I'm hoping they will remember that excitement when their dad signs them up again next season.
I forgot my zoom lens, so my "action" shots are too far away.
Certainly didn't need a zoom lens for this one.
Brooklyn was more interested in picking flowers (aka weeds) in the grass than playing soccer. She is such a girl!
She shoots, she scores. Doesn't she look happy!
 So were we!
Love those medals, even though they are bigger than the kids.
 Great season, girls!
Team Asay, minus mom, of course!
